We will have setups for all dogs and catch up on how everyone is progressing this spring. There are a number of tests in our area and we want everyone to be prepared to take those
ribbons!
We will be renewing memberships for 2022 and enrolling new members. For only $25 it's the best training bargain you can get.
Be sure to bring your chairs and cold drinks. We will have lunch available.

Training Day with Chris Akin - February 20, 2021
The North Alabama HRC is pleased to announce our initial training day for 2021.
NAHRC will host a training seminar on February 20, 2021 at the Northeast Alabama Hunting Preserve. Our special guest will be Chris Akin of Webbed Foot Kennels.
Chris Akin has been training dogs for over four decades. He learned by shadowing his father who was a professional dog trainer, and by the time he was 19 Akin was widely considered to be one of the best gun dog trainers of his generation. Akin has trained more than 3,800 dogs leading his training program to evolve into one of the most accomplished hunt test programs in the country. Since opening his Webb Footed Kennels, Inc., his program has produced more than 350 Hunting Retriever Champions, 175 Master Hunters, and 35 Grand Hunting Retriever Champions. Akin's personal titles include two Super Retriever Series Championships and an ESPN Great Outdoor Games Gold Medal.
This seminar will be available for all fully paid members. You can join or renew at the seminar. The annual dues payment is $25 per member.
The seminar will include a classroom presentation in the morning with field work in the afternoon for as many dogs as we have time to accommodate. There will be a break for lunch which is available in nearby Rainsville.

The 2021 NARC AKC Spring Hunt Test will be held on March 6-7, 2021 at BBFF Kennels in Brilliant, AL.

AKC Judge/Handler Seminar -- August 19, 2017
North Alabama and Black Warrior Retriever Clubs will host an AKC Judge/Handler Seminar on August 19, 2017 at Bass Pro Shops in Leeds, AL. The seminar will begin at 10am sharp.
This is a great event to learn how to be a better handler, understand how hunt tests are judged and also provide the basic requirements to become an AKC hunt test judge.
There is no charge as North Alabama/Black Warrior will pay all registration fees. No advance registration is required...just show up. Coffee and donuts will be provided, you can get lunch at the Bass Pro sandwich shop.

We will have land marks, water marks, and blinds available for all levels. This will be a great opportunity to help prepare for the Central AL hunt test scheduled for April 8-9 at the State Cattle Ranch in Greensboro, AL.
Lunch will be available (remember lunch is free for members and $5 for non-members).
From Hwy 431 in Hampton Cove turn north on Eastern Bypass and proceed past the RTJ golf course. Turn right on Old Hwy 431 at the Cove Park ball parks. Look for signs on the right.
NOTE: This is one of the sites for the SRS Crown Championship. Thanks to the City of Huntsville for allowing us to use this property.

AKC Junior/Senior Hunt Test -- August 8-9, 2015
North Alabama Retriever Club will be hosting a Junior/Senior Hunt Test on Aug 8-9, 2015. The event will be held at the Northeast Alabama Hunting Preserve in Section, AL.
There will be a Junior test and a Senior test each day, so you will be able to get 2 passes toward the AKC title in one weekend. Also, each test will have at least one live flyer for every entered dog!

Training Seminar -- February 14-15, 2015
Much thanks to Stephen Durrence of Taylor Farm Kennels for leading our beginning retriever training seminar. Stephen is not only one of the most successful gun dog trainers in our area, he is a great teacher. We had over 30 attendees for this event and based on the questions and interactions, there was a lot to be learned by anyone interested in training gun dogs.
We plan on hosting more seminar oriented events in the future. If you have any contacts or suggestions for these, please let me know.
